General Manager

A general manager, is a shrewd business leader. The success of their establishment depends on their skills as an administrator, manager, strategist and sales professional…

Their objective is twofold: to ensure that their guests are satisfied and that their hotel thrives.

The Role of a General Manager

Their role varies depending on the size of the hotel:

  • In a small establishment, their responsibilities are wide-ranging: welcoming guests, managing bookings, coordinating the layout and décor, negotiating with suppliers…
  • In a large hotel, their duties are more management-focused: recruitment, training and coordination of teams, setting pricing policy, monitoring turnover, sales strategy…
  • Within a hotel group, they are responsible for upholding the group’s image and must ensure that standards are strictly adhered to, whether in terms of the hotel’s décor, staff uniforms or the choice of suppliers.
