Inspiring meeting with Julien Bardet, Shangri-La Paris
Faire défiler la pageJulien Bardet, General Manager of the Shangri-La Paris was the guest speaker at our most recent career events. At our Career Talk and Career Confidence, this prominent figure in the luxury hospitality industry shared his passion and experience, as well as his vision of the market in the current context with its difficulties and opportunities, with our students in Bachelor in International Hospitality Management.
JULIEN BARDET, THE PLEASURE OF CREATING PLEASURE
Speaking to our 1st to 3rd year students in the Bachelor in International Hospitality Management, Julien Bardet, specialist in luxury hospitality, returned for a “Career Talk” conference to chat about his background, how he built his career, what drives him, and how he skilfully breaks the mould on a daily basis in his professional life.
From his first role as Sales & Marketing Director at Le Méridien in Nice, where he was in charge of repositioning the hotel after a complete renovation, to his current position at the head of the historic, luxury Shangri-La Paris hotel, via his international experience in more than nine countries in prestigious establishments (The Laguna, St Regis Bali, New York, Miami, West Hollywood Edition), Julien spoke openly and sincerely about his experiences, the decisions he has taken in his career, and handling growing responsibilities.
Beyond his inspiring career, Julien Bardet also provided our future leaders in the hospitality industry a wealth of advice on building their career, the importance of the choices they will have to make, and the centrality of their networks.
Any advice to keep in mind? Always ask yourself this question:
“Is this the best version you can provide? Never wait in life for others to challenge you to give your best.”
CAREER CONFIDENCE, AN ENRICHING INTERGENERATIONAL EXCHANGE
The conference continued with a meal at our Seasons – 1* Michelin restaurant and the Career Confidence event. This intimate format gave 6 students in the 3rd year of the Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Management the chance to continue the dialogue with this passionate hotelier, and to share their respective visions of the challenges and future of the industry within which they will evolve. For some of these students looking to choose their 4th year specialisation in Luxury Hospitality Management, this meeting certainly prompted them to reflect on their professional careers.
We met the students at the conclusion of the meal
Designed both to allow our students to develop their business culture and to meet unique and inspiring leaders, our career events provide alternative perspectives on our industries in order to in turn become actors for change in the Hospitality, Catering and Culinary Arts professions.
