Our Hospitality Management students innovate in senior housing

Third-year students of the Bachelor in International Hospitality and Restaurant Management at Institut Lyfe take on a real-world challenge each year through the Capstone project. This immersive educational experience allows them to apply their skills and expertise to support a real company.

With an aging population and evolving expectations from seniors regarding accommodation, the hospitality industry is undergoing transformation. This year, our students had the opportunity to collaborate with CetteFamille, a company revolutionizing housing for elderly individuals experiencing a loss of autonomy. Their mission? Analyze the market and design innovative solutions to enhance the customer experience in the senior co-living sector.

Customer Experience & Premiumization: Innovative Recommendations

Supervised by experts and industry professionals, our students worked on two key challenges:

  1. Optimizing the customer journey for CetteFamille – The goal of this first focus area was to analyze the residents’ journey, identify areas for improvement, and develop innovative solutions to enhance the living experience within shared senior housing.
  2. Developing a premium offering – In a rapidly evolving market, CetteFamille aims to explore an upscale evolution of its offering. Our students were tasked with identifying key attractiveness factors for a luxury offer tailored to the needs and expectations of seniors and their families, such as a wellness hospitality experience or a package of exclusive services for residents.

A Career-Boosting Professional Experience

The Capstone project perfectly embodies Institut Lyfe’s educational approach: a hands-on, market-driven professional experience. By tackling real-world challenges alongside industry players, our students develop essential skills in strategy, marketing, and hospitality management, while also honing crucial soft skills such as adaptability, critical thinking, project management, and teamwork. These projects challenge them to design viable strategies and present their recommendations to professionals, who in turn benefit from fresh perspectives on their business.

We warmly congratulate Les Liens Dorés, winners of the challenge on customer journey optimization, as well as Vivéria, laureates for the development of a new premium offer. Their dedication, creativity, and the relevance of their recommendations were highly praised by the jury. Bravo to them for this achievement and for their contribution to innovation in the senior housing sector.
