Faire défiler la pageManagement and leadership are at the center of our different Bachelor programs and 5-year programs, eitheir on the theoric side and on-field side of the education program.
At the Institut Paul Bocuse we defend education by living an experience that put the students as a main actor. The Learning by doing is a part of our DNA and the experimentation of different management situations is particularly encouraged by the diversity of methods used in our programs. This year, our student in 3rd-year students in Bachelor in International Food Service Management have experienced management thanks to the equicoaching.
What does equicoaching is about ?
What is known as Equicoaching consist in getting the mirror effect of the horse : according on how we interact with the animal, its reaction will be different from a person to another. Corinne Chaussemy is a professional of the equicoaching for 13 years and she explains it as : “It’s by looking at how the horse reacts that we will have clear indications of what it is at take for the person : How does he make himself understand ? How does he manage his emotions ? When is he under pressure ? What management style does he adopt ? …”
Why chosing the equicoahching for 3rd-year student in food service management ?
After two years studying and practicing management and leadership in real-life situation in our different pedagological restaurants or internships, the students have experienced through this interaction with horses their behavior as managers and their “natural leadership”. Like Corinne Chaussemy confirmed “with the horses, they’ve been able to understand which leader they are and so, their natural leadership to acknowledge the difference”.
By the end of the day, they can observe thanks to videos made and feedbacks from their classmates, how they are, interact et react to others. From this observation, they get key learnings for their future career as managers and team leaders.
Choosing the Equicoaching has been obvious for Stéphane Demaeght, Programme Director : “If we create an emotion during a learning process, this is the highest level of education.”
